10 Top Wedding Makeup Tips EVERY Bride Needs To Know

Avoid a wedding day disaster with these easy to follow, gorgeous wedding makeup tips that every bride, bridesmaid or wedding guest needs to know before the big day!
1. Do have a facial a week before
Your wedding makeup will only ever look as good as the skin underneath it. So make sure you exfoliate and leave your face, smooth, radiant and glowing. If you don’t have time to go to the spa (what bride has time for that??) then do a DIY face mask at home. I love the Eve Lom Rescue Mask it’s amazing for for calming blotchy, irritable break-outs or soothing stressed skin, so perfect for a slightly frazzled bride to be! Shop other pre wedding face masks & peels.
2. Do wear a white t shirt when you go for a wedding makeup trial
This way you can see how it looks against a pale colour before your purchase anything.
3. Don't Pluck your eyebrows on the big day
Get them shaped at least a few days beforehand so any redness or swelling has gone down. Then on the day lightly fill your brows in with an angled eyebrow pencil and brush through to get natural, perfect looking brows. Maybelline Satin Eyebrow Pencil goes on smoothly with no dragging and the fine tip is super easy to use and creat natural looking brow hairs. Just remember to colour match, so you don’t end up with black eyebrows on your wedding day!
4. Do consider the climate BEFORE applying your wedding makeup
If you're getting married on a gorgeous beach location (lucky you) think about using oil free products to stop an unwanted shine making you look like a greasy and not glowing bride. Start with an oil free primer such as Benefit Pore Professional feels so silky and lightweight on your skin ideal for a sultry summer wedding.
5. Do apply eye makeup before foundation
This way any accidental spills can be easily mopped up without having to redo your entire face. A recent discovery but the best mivellar cleaning water I have found recently is a from a natural skincare brand Sukin Micellar Cleansing Water infused with a soothing blend of cucumber & chamomile, it won’t irritate even the most sensitive skin, perfect for any wedding makeup misshaps.
6. Do smile when putting on blush
By smiling, the apples of your cheeks stand out. Pop your blush right there and blend well up to your temples. Clinique Cheek Pop Blush are vibrant yet still natural-looking. For a cheek colour that looks virtually powderless on your skin and will have you photo ready in a flash. This creates a stunning natural flush that will make you look every inch the blushing bride.
7. Do Look Wide Awake
Getting enough sleep and wedding planning aren't always cohesive. Fake a wide awake look by using a shimmer powder in the inner corners of your eyes. It really does make a massive difference. You will look bright eyed and bushy tailed even if you don’t feel it. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact is the ideal highlighter for adding warmth to every skintone.
8. Do Use waterproof Mascara
No explanation needed. The best waterproof mascara I’ve found is Lancome Hypnose waterproof mascara for buildable volume and definition that last all day (no matter how many happy tears).
9. Do Use an eyelash Curler
The best way to curl your lashes is to curl them in three places. From the root, in the middle and at the tips. No need to clamp down hard - you don’t want a visible crease. Just squeeze lashes lightly.
10. Do wear something on your lips
Even if it’s just a tinted lipbalm such as the gorgeous natural shade Baby Bare from Pixi otherwise your wedding makeup can look unfinished and as if you forgot.
