2. Limit Your Props
Choose your props wisely and sparingly. Too many can distract the viewer's eye and they won’t know where to look. Ingredients, flowers, candles or a great bathroom #shelfie have been the top Instagram beauty trends showcased in 2016. Place the props on a white poster board that won’t stain or dirty, for the ultimate clean photos. Top Tip: as it’s flat you can store behind the sofa when you’re not using.
To make it easier, especially if you don’t have the steadiest hands, or longest arms then try using a tripod for hands free photo taking.
3. Use Good Lighting
The best lighting for beauty shoots is a natural one. Good lighting can make the difference between a dingy, blurry pic and a gorgeous bright image that captures all the likes.
Top Tip: shoot images in the morning as the early daylight is cooler toned and provides a better contrast between the objects and the products. But if shadows are causing havoc, then shoot on a cloudy day to avoid it.
4. Organise your Products
Instagram shots may look like a gorgeous tumble of products that have haphazardly but beautifully fallen out of this seasons handbag. However, we can assure you that they have been meticulously placed by size, shape and colour with equal space between them to create harmonious shots. E.g products are arranged from dark to light or large to small and all labels are perfectly positioned so they are not upside down, backwards or underneath.
Top Tip: use a pinch of blue tack on the base of the products to stop them rolling around!
