5 Steps To Model Like Skin
Posted by Tarryn Warren in Skin Care
With the height of London Fashion Week now upon us the urge to obtain porcelain - clear skin and bright shiny eyes has never mattered more than now.
I can’t remember the last time I didn’t hear one of my friends shrieking into my ear about some ornate, apricot filter that will make her skin look like she sponged on a pint of foundation. I hope I am not the only one that weeps with envy into my silk, no - lines - on - this - face pillow case when Gwyneth Paltrow posts an au natural picture.
Achieving model - like skin is possible if you are prepared to go the extra distance, and I have been fortunate to learn the tricks of the trade which can get your skin looking good enough for you to add #nofilter to all your Instagram posts.
Step 1 - Breakouts and pimples
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt whilst working at a medical wellness hotel, it is that food allergies are the BIGGEST cause of spots, eczema, dermatitis and many, many other skin concerns.
Before you run off to try every cream under the sun, I suggest you go get yourself a food allergy test. I could go on and on about the benefits of not eating things your body is intolerant to, but I will save that for another day. The new VIVAMAYR in Harley Street is my number one choice to go get yourself tested. I found out I was allergic to yeast and that was the end of my cystic acne days
Step 2 - Detoxify
FACETOX Mask by Holland and Barret, £29.99 has ingredients that make my heart sing. I am most definitely a skincare hippie and prefer to use more natural, clean products. This quick fix not only deeply purges the skin- because the FaceTox clay is mixed with 100% Rose Water it creates a negative charge and when applied to your skin it draws out toxins. It will leave your skin softer, calmer and clearer.
Step 3 - Correct instead of cover
Who would have thought this watery, blue serum that feels and smells of nothing could change your skin in a way you never thought possible? The Niod Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1% is by far the most advanced science based skincare product you will ever use. It tackles spots, pigments, lines, irritations, and texture because it makes your skin work better and faster. Anything that improves the natural health of your skin should be the first thing in your shopping bag. Why cover your skin when you can correct it. Oh, and it's only £38. Win for your skin!
Step 4 - Tap it like it's hot
Honey tapping is a wonderfully easy way to give your skin a natural, dewy glow. Organic honey is a largely used ingredient in many skincare products, but using it raw and directly on your skin will give you even better results. On a dry skin smear a thin amount of honey over your entire face (I recommend keeping your hair tied up and out of the way.) Now tap the skin with flat fingers. The stickiness of the honey will loosen dead skin and unblock pores. Honey is naturally softening, antibacterial, and healing. Wash off after about five minutes of tapping and apply your serums and creams.
Step 5 - Pfeffer Sal's Real Life Retouching IPL
As the Pfeffer Sal clinic would say, ‘If you are after the perfect celebrity skin, this is our secret’. IPL (intense pulsed light) is the easiest way to get rid of skin concerns such as capillaries and age - spots.
If you are looking to achieve that ultimate cover - girl - perfect skin and lose the concealer once and for all, this is the treatment to give you those results. Typically you need one to two treatments to target your concerns and erase them from your skin nightmares. Prices start from £50 - £200 depending on the treatment area.
