5 Ways To Spice Up Your Life This Christmas
Posted by Charlotte Watkins in Body, Hair, Skin Care
Yes, it is that time where we are already frothing at the mouth at the thought of the Starbucks Christmas menu, and yes – if I find out they have run out of the ‘Ginger’ syrup for their Gingerbread Latte one more time, they can guarantee a Starbucks ‘brawl’ will take place. Is it really so hard to stock up Starbucks? Come on.
As a fellow ‘Ginger’, I know how frustrating it can be to have someone recommend a replacement spice of ‘Cinnamon’, (CINNAMON?!), when the Ginger has run out. – We know our hair colour is slowly dying out but please, show some respect.
So I decided it is time to really show an appreciation to those beauty brands, which use this gorgeous spice in their products and will also prep you for this Christmassy period ahead.
Origins Ginger Body Oil
Whoever created this gorgeous Origins Ginger Body Oil, £22.50 deserves a medal or at least a hug because I could seriously drink this up right now! It smells like a sugary candy heaven, but for your skin! I would probably consider wearing this kind of oil before going out for the evening because it just is far better than any fragrance I've worn! As for moisturizing? YES. It is perfection in a bottle, and for those lazy people, (i.e. Me), you only really need to spray and then you're good to go. That's right, no hassle of waiting to dry or even patting it down. Granted, my bathroom floor became a slipping hazard from all my wild spraying, but it definitely smells delicious and I will be 100% purchasing this in bulk! Who knew ginger could smell so good?
Elemis Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow
Personally I've never used a scrub before. I know, I know. It's probably the most sinful thing a person working in the beauty industry can say, and yes, I do deserve to be put into the 'stocks' and have tomatoes thrown at me.
Needless to say I'm a COMPLETE convert Elemis's Lime And Ginger Salt Glow, £39 is perfect for lazy people, (me again!), who cannot be bothered to moisturise - who even has that kind of time? It takes about 2 minutes to scrub this gorgeous product over your whole body and it leaves a beautiful smelling ginger and lime oil on your skin, so when you leave the shower you basically look like one of those 'Herbal Essences' models in the waterfalls! My skin felt so smooth for days after and it has definitely made my skin glow.
Molton Brown Ginger Extract Thickening Shampoo
Who knew that ginger could smell so good and do miraculous things to your hair? Well, Molton Brown’s Ginger Extract Thickening Shampoo, £18 will prove to you that it can! It really did make my hair shiny and voluminous and best of all it smells incredible! It's quite a musky ginger scent, but after washing it, it leaves a subtle ginger scent to get you in a Christmas mood. (Any Scrooge's out there, this may not be your cup of tea)! I hope they come out with a Ginger Conditioner!
Roger & Gallet Ginger Firming Sorbet Body Lotion
Do they ever fault in their fragrances and lotions? The answer is NO. So I 100% knew Roger & Gallet's Ginger Firming Sorbet Body Lotion, £14 would be a brilliant product before even trying it. I just loved the smell, I couldn't get enough of it! I even took it to work and throughout the day constantly lathered my hands in it just to smell the sweet scent of ginger. Yes - I admit this image of me may look weird, but even my colleagues became obsessed with it. For the price you pay and the size of the product - it's really worth it all. Especially as it keeps your skin soft and smelling like you've baked gingerbread men all morning!
Aveda Texture Tonic
I am a complete sucker for these texturizing sprays even though my hair type really screams 'please dear god stop using them'. My hair is naturally thick and curly - so yes, imagine the joy my hair had when I added Aveda's Texture Tonic, £21 into the mix! Normally a nightmare follows as it makes my hair brittle and frizzy - but for once... it didn't.
I am no science nerd and I don't know the ingredients that probably helped in preventing this, but my hair was just the perfect texture and still had a shine to it! I obviously will claim it's down to their ginger pure-fume aroma , (gotta support it haven't I?) - but it really is a must - have product. It's different from all the other texturizing sprays I've used and it smells heavenly! I would never have thought to put a ginger texturizing spray in my hair, but I think it's safe to say, I'll be using fragrance over a traditional 'salt spray' any day.
