6 Festive Fragrances To Flourish This Christmas
Posted by Samantha Scriven in Fragrances
Fragrance often serve two purposes at Christmas, there are the fragrances for a cosy night in with Netflix and fluffy socks, or there are the little black dress party season perfumes. Whichever mood you’re in, the fragrance firmament has everything you could wish for.
Find a favourite and get your letter to Santa ready, I hope you’ve been good!
Parisian Perfection: Zadig & Voltaire
This achingly cool Parisian brand may not sound very Christmassy, but how about if I told you that [Zadig & Voltaire's This Is Her EDP, £37 (https://www.mybeautymatches.com/zadig-voltaire-this-is-her-eau-de-parfum) has delightful nuances of chestnuts and cream alongside rich notes of jasminum sambac? Tempted? This lovely and rather unusual scent had me sniffing my wrist and wanting to wrap up warm and eat marshmallows. It dares to be different and I like that in people and in fragrance.
Spice It Up With YSL Opium
The Yves Saint Laurent classic Opium has been overtaken of late by its popular flanker Black Opium, £71. The original is worth checking out if you haven’t done so already. In winter, the combination of warm skin and cold weather seems to bring out the best in spicy scents and this is no exception. As well as ladylike jasmine and carnation, it has both frankincense AND Myrrh. What could be more Christmassy than that?
A Bottle Full Of Marvellous: Hermes Elixir Des Merveilles
An elixir of marvels is just what you need at Christmas and Hermes Elixir des Merveilles, £116 beauty strikes a smooth balance between the rich gourmand note of a caramelised orange, and a woody patchouli surround, smooth as gleaming wood. It’s warm, classy, and always puts a smile on my face. This stunning scent was created by genius Jean Claude Ellena, so you’ll know you’re wearing a masterpiece.
Chocolate And Kisses: Cartier Baiser Fou
It’s fair to say that the yuletide seasons will (hopefully) involve chocolate and kissing, which brings me to my next Festive Favourite. Cartier's Baiser Fou, £94 contains raspberry notes, white chocolate nuances and a flourish of what smells like extremely expensive lipstick. I wore it in the summer and I’m wearing it in Winter too. It’s fun, flirty and everyone will sniff you. Ideal party wear.
Flaunt It With Flair: Marc Jacobs Decadence
As soon as I saw the beautiful handbag style bottle to Marc Jacobs Decadence, £69 I knew I had to have it and wear it with a party dress and red lippie. It dazzled me. The fragrance lived up to my expectations too. With deep notes of plum, spicy saffron, and yes, more jasmine, this chic bottle on its Chanel like chain brings out the greed in me. Don’t keep it in your handbag either - it’s far too good to be tucked away. Flaunt it like a chunky piece of jewellery!
Lose Yourself To Dior Hypnotic Poison
If you love cosy nights in, surrounded by the scent of warm vanilla, then Dior's Hypnotic Poison, £46 is for you. Not only does the bottle remind me of Cinderella’s pumpkin coach, and makes you feel powerful when you hold it in your palm, but this is one of the best vanilla scents I have ever smelt. There are lots of other ingredients too: plum, coconut, lily of the valley and even apricots. What this smells like on me is a rich, heady liqueur of a scent that makes me think of marzipan, fireplaces and baking. Wrap yourself in it like a blankie and you’ll know what I mean.
All you have to do now is decide which list you’re on. Naughty or Nice?
