If you haven't had the chance to look a model in the eye, or should that be skin, take my word for it. They are flawless. Even half way through one of the busiest times of year- Fashion week.
We may not have their height, or ability to wear size 24 jeans BUT one thing we can get on board with is their beauty regimes. We have beg, borrowed and down right stolen the models and makeup artists backstage beauty tips and trends for 2016/17.
1. Use a Micellar water
Micellar water has been one of 2016’s most prolific beauty trends. Sometimes less is more. If you've noticed your skin is frequently greasy no matter how much you're washing it then stop using a harsh cleanser in the mornings and stick to a gentle micellar water. Over washing can actually be counterproductive and cause your skin to overproduce sebum in an effort to counterbalance the drying washes. Bioderma Sebium H Purifying Cleansing Solution For Combination/oily Skin is the name on all models lips. This version for oily skin helps keep sebum at bay without stripping any essential moisture.
2. They cut back on sugar.
Another 2016 beauty trend that shows no waning. Yes you've heard it before but sugar really does speed up the aging process by destroying collagen and elastins in your skin. If you can’t resist a cheeky chocolate now and again, make sure you include a collagen boosting moisturiser into your skincare routine. Sisley Night Cream With Collagen And Woodmallow is pricey but a little goes a long way and will leave yur skin looking younger than ever.
3. Make time for regular facials
For a model, their skin is often their CV. So keeping it in check is important. They prepare for photoshoots and castings by keeping up with regular facial treatments. If you budget can’t stretch to a trip to Urban Retreat every month, incorporate a weekly mask into your skincare regime. Ren’s Face Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is a natural bio active peel mask that will leave your skin clear and glowing, without any nasties.
4. Sometimes they Skip Suncream
This is the first time we will say this, but if you are going to be indoors all day you can skip the sunscreen and let your face breathe.
6. Don’t use a hairbrush
The secret to supermodel Gisele’s flowing locks, is ditching the hairbrush. After applying a nourishing conditioner such as O & M Maintain The Mane Conditioner run your fingers through it to get rid of any knots and then rinse and leave to dry naturally. This will give you natural body and wave, and give hair a rest from heat damage too.
7. Take your makeup off
Post shoot, models like to get their heavy makeup off instantly with a gentle makeup remover, if you are home from work early, instead of sitting around with a full face of makeup on, take it off and let your skin recover. Model favorite Klorane Eye Make-up Remover Lotion With Cornflower is gentle and has de-puffing properties.
8. The tip on all the models lips…
MOISTURISE. Models can’t get enough of the nourishing stuff. French brands especially seem to be on the models radar. La Roche Posay Toleriane Soothing Protective Skincare Normal To Combination Skin keeps skin nourished with thermal spring waters to soothe any irritations or blemishes.
