Could This Be The Answer To Beating The Winter Blues Once And For All?

Would it really be that terrible if I confided in you about a little white lie I often tell around this time of the year?

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I have a confession to make: I tell everyone my favourite time of the year is Halloween and Christmas, when it is in fact, not the scary masks, scantily clad outfits or family Christmas gatherings. My favourite time of the year is actually 1:59am on Sunday 30th October, better known as the end of British Summer Time - there I’ve said it, I'm a proficient sleeper and 1 extra hour of sleep means more to me than a social gathering!

With our impeccably timed body clocks being graced with an extra hour of blissful (hopefully undisturbed) sleep from this week, one thing’s for certain the darker evenings and central heating timers are rapidly drawing in, which can only mean Winter has arrived!

It’s no secret that the transitional change in season can often spur on a range of emotions which most of the time stem from the lack of sunlight in Winter, maybe that's why I like to hibernate through this season so much, who knows? But with the hecticity of Christmas preparations and the colder weather taking its toll, sometimes an extra hour of sleep isn’t enough and we need a rechargeable boost of rest and recuperation to see us through.

With that said the annual celebration of National Spa Week (30th October - 5th November) couldn't come at a better time, especially where the harsh reality of Winter is concerned, and whilst spa breaks are generally classed as an all year round necessity, they certainly help to distance those Winter blues once and for all.

This is where the tranquil world of Narnia steps in which is also better known as The Dorsett Hotel, Shepherds Bush, London. Situated less than a 5 minute walk from Shepherds Bush Market underground station and a 10 minute walk from Westfield White City, the detail incorporated to this hotel is second to none and let me be clear, when I say this place is heaven on earth, I mean it really is heaven on earth.

From the idyllic high ceilings, minimalistic furnishings and elegant décor The Dorsett, Shepherds Bush has it all. I visited the dreamy abode last month to experience the Dorsett's Signature Overnight Spa Break which did not disappoint at all.

Guests are able to pre book a visit the newly opened Spa Mika located on the 8th floor of the hotel as part of the Signature Overnight Break, to experience a 25 minute signature hydrating coconut back, neck and shoulder massage and a 25 minute personalised signature hydration boost facial.

Both spa treatments are incredible and offer complete serenity on what is already a heavenly stay. After experiencing both 25 minute treatments I honestly felt as though I had indulged in 6 hours sleep in the space of 50 minutes. What more can you ask for?

A 1 hour access to Spa Mika's thermal spa facilities is also available for guests to relax in the aroma steam room, infrared sauna and viewpoint relaxation lounge with refreshments prior to their treatments. The viewpoint lounge at Spa Mika is a particularly good addition and allows guest to benefit from natural Vitamin D rays, which certainly help to deter those Winter blues.
