Posted by Rachael Wheeler in Make Up
Every month we scour the magazine racks for a suitable candidate for our get the cover look and give you the best celebrity makeup tips. This month how could we not feature Vogue's centenary shoot. To celebrate their 100 year birthday they chose, and oh so wisely; Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge follows on from Princess of Diana's cover shoot 19 years earlier and is only the second royal to ever grace the cover.
The Duchess is normally a fan of the classic black eyeliner and heavy blusher and isn't normally a fan of using a make up artists, instead preferring to do it herself. However to commemorate the shoots the Duchess, 34 allowed professional make up artist, Sally Branka to work her magic. And frankly if we had a Vogue cover, we’d hire one of the best makeup artists in the industry too. Especially one with such a wealth of celebrity makeup tips. Hired especially by Vogue for this prestigious shoot, Sally worked closely with the Duchess to give her a look she was happy with, and would be timeless when looked back upon over the years. They settled on a gorgeously natural look, enhancing Kate’s natural, fresh youth. As you can see the outcome is stunning, and no doubt will be copied all over the world with striking results. Sadly we don’t all have our own make up artists and photographers to hand to make up look Vogue cover worthy, however that’s where we step in. We’ve found the best products for you too buy online for an easy way to recreate some royal celebrity make up tips at home.
Kate should be looking after her skin to keep up her youthful glow. However we all know that our beauty treatments can be the first thing to be neglected in our busy lives. If you are pressed for time with too many (Royal) duties and don't have the time to go for a monthly facial, Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial £46.00 is just the thing for you. Pop it on and let it work its magic whilst you sleep. The potent blend of vitamins will infuse with your skin and you will wake up to a rejuvenated, plumped complexion. So even if you’ve had less than 8 hours, no one will ever know!
Once your base is primed and ready, even out the skin tone with a sheer, coverage foundation (step away from matte, and powders). Start by applying Nars Immaculate Complexion Sheer Foundation Glow £31.00 from the center of your face outwards, the warmth from your fingers will blend it seamlessly into your skin. Add additional brighteness to your skin with one of Kate’s Favourite products, YSL Touche Eclat Under Eye Concealer £28.00 simply tap the product into the skin for instantly brigher eyes. This is one of my favourite products for instant radiance. A must have!
To mimic Kate’s natural beauty, don’t go overboard with your eyebrows. Use a powder shadow and fill in in tiny strokes to imitate the natural hairs. Because we want to get that natural, sun kissed look, we want to fill in the brows softly, using a soft pencil such as Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Natural Eyebrow Pencil £17.00 fill them in where needed and and use the handy grooming brush to avoid using harsh lines and create the illusion of full brows.
Follow the same less is more mantra when it comes to the eye makeup. To achieve Kate’s subtle definition smudge on a soft brown eyeliner at the roots of your lashes, this will make them seem thicker and fuller and define your eye with a barely perceptible hint of colour. Perfect for those who like the natural look. We are also loving Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes powder eye pencil in Espresso £11.95 as it glides on so smoothly without a hint of pulling the delicate skin on your eyelid. Add a lick of Lancome Virtuose Mascara Sensual £17.75 (Another royal fave) and your eye make up is fit for a king (or prince ahem). Now for the final touches, the bronzed glow! Apply Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder Bronze £33.00 where the sun would naturally hit the face. Under the cheekbones, on the temples, the bridge of the nose, dust on your chin and don't forget under the jawline on your neck for the most sunkissed of flushes.
So if you're looking to bag yourself a royal, a Vogue cover or simply have a gorgeous glow, make like Kate and enhance your natural beauty, for timeless elegance that will last as long as Vogue (100 years and counting!).
