How To Get Wedding Perfect Makeup In Under 15 Minutes
Posted by Rachael Wheeler in Experts, Makeup
Whether it's your big day or someone else's, no one can deny there is a LOT of prep that goes into a wedding. From the ritual beautification of hair removal, tanning and trips to the hairdressers, to shopping for that killer wedding outfit, wedding present and don't even get me started on the shoes. And all this is before you've even thought about logistically how you are going to get there and where you are going to stay. Phew. I'm shattered already just thinking about it.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a wedding. A chance to see my favourite people tie the knot, too much dancing and free cake?? count me in. It's just sometime's I'm very much up for a few wedding shortcuts as I don't always have enough time in the day.
Which led me to creating this feature, getting wedding perfect makeup in under 15 minutes. With a little (okay, a lot) of help from International Make up artist Lara Himplemann we came up with a stunning makeup look that would suit anyone from the bride, bridesmaids, guests and everyone in between.
Taking inspiration from couture wedding shows, it was all about creating a timeless, flattering look, focusing on beautiful skin and universally flattering rosy shades to make eyes pop and skin look more youthful. Oh and it takes under 15 minutes to apply, leaving you with time for a luxurious lie in on the big day!
Minute 1-2: After cleansing and moisturising apply a few drops of Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation Serum £45.00 and blend into your skin, around the jaw and down to your decollete with a brush or sponge for a seamless finish. This serum like foundation fills any fine lines with Neuropeptides yet still feels completely weightless on the skin.
Minute 3-4: Next up is the concealer. Dot onto any blemishes with Marc Jacobs The Conceal Full Cover Correcting Brush £22.00. A top tip when applying under your eyes is to create an upside down triangle shape rather than a semi circle. Draw the triangle down the the middle of your cheekbone and blend in. This will diffuse the light, creating flawless skin and there won't be a panda eye in sight.
Minute 5-6: Highlight the high points of your face, where the light would naturally hit such as cheekbones, bridge of your nose, middle of the brow bone, centre of the chin and the cupids bow. This Dolce & Gabanna Glow Illuminating Powder Luna £38.00 has the perfect amount of shimmer without looking glittery. Your skin just looks luminous, and the compact isn't bad to look at either.
Minute 7-8: Lightly sweep on a bronzer around the temples, under cheekbones and jaw line with a big fluffy brush. Morphe Brushes Large Contour Brush £7.95 makes seamless contouring easy.
Minute 9-10:This is where another time saving beauty hack kicks in. Dolce & Gabanna Makeup Luminous Cheek Powder Delight £34.00 can be used on eyes and cheeks to give you a gorgeously rosy glow, and don't worry it won't make you look like you've been crying it will just add an extra sparkle to your eyes.
Minute 11-12: To keep this look fresh, apply eyeliner right in the lash line rather than above. This will create the illusion of the fullest lashes, without aging you. This Lord and Berry Couture Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil Black £10.00kohl liner will give the illusion of the inkiest of lashes all day long.
Minute 13-14: Brush High Definition Brow Colourfix £22.00on to brows to stop them straying and finish your eyes with a few coats of black Mascara. By Terry Waterproof Mascara Black £34.00 will withstand even the happiest of wedding tears.
Minute 15: For the finishing touche, swipe on 2 coats of Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color £20.00, for the perfect pinky shade that will last all through the wedding toasts. Cheers to that!
There you have it, a gorgeous wedding look in just 15 minutes. Time saving tricks at their best.
