How To Summer Proof Your Foundation

Summer is nearly here, which means it is time to switch up our daily make-up routine for something a little lighter on the lighter side.

When the weather starts to heat up, the last thing we want is to be sweltering beneath a heavy face of foundation. Enter our three favourite skin saviors for glowing summer skin: BB cream, CC cream & tinted moisturiser.

Following a huge success in the Asian market, BB creams made their European debut in 2011 and have since become a make-up bag staple. Formulated to benefit ones skin, it not only provides sheer glowing coverage, but it also hydrates the skin and has the added benefit of an SPF – perfect for summer! The perfect example of a skin boosting BB cream is the Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Beauty Booster, which provides hydration, protection, radiance, correction and an even complexion – what’s not to love!

Much like a BB cream, a CC cream offers hydrating properties, SPF protection and a sheer coverage. Where they differ is that a CC cream also offers additional colour correcting properties. This is especially great for women who suffer from redness and uneven skin tone, but still want to benefit from a lighter coverage in the warmer months. We love the Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Colour Correction Tinted Day Cream for it’s additional targeted skincare benefits.

Before BB creams and CC creams exploded onto the market, our go-to coverage choice for summer was a good ole tinted moisturiser. Boasting all the benefits of a moisturiser, with the added benefit of a hint of colour, tinted moisturisers are a must-have product for summer (or winter)! While BB & CC creams are often only available in light/medium/dark, most tinted moisturisers are available in a much wider shade range. For the ultimate ‘no makeup’ finish, why not try the new Eve Lom Radiance Perfected Tinted Moisturiser with SPF 15 for a youthful radiance.
