5 Top Bronzers For The Perfect Tan
Posted by Rachael Wheeler in Makeup
Last week I did something I’ve never done before. I ditched the blusher!
This is mostly because I no longer look like I’ve been living under a rock all winter (hurrah summer sun giving me some colour) and because I am currently obsessed with Dolce & Gabbana Animalier Glow Bronzing Powder and can’t go anywhere without it. Does this brand do anything I don’t covet? Obviously not. As an added bonus I also get to make good use of my new Rosie For Autograph make Up Brush Set which is one of the best priced sets you can buy for the quality it is (aka so soft).
By using bronze-toned makeup, it’s an easy way to add warmth to your face, and everyone can benefit from a little golden glow. The trick is to find the right one for your skin tone. (Take our quiz to get a perfect match)
So what did I learn from this summer makeup shift? Apart from a extra 5 minutes in bed obviously. After a few days of dusting my face (aka cheekbones, forehead, chin and down the bridge of my nose) not bronzing is no longer an option. I look like I’ve spent a few weeks in the south of France, when I can assure you that the furthest I’ve gone this week is Zone 4. Best of all I look tanned, healthy and natural. Sort of a bronzed version of the no makeup makeup trend. Add in a little highlighter and you are good to go. This look is perfect for those sporty girls or anyone that gets flushed in the heat, as you don’t need to add any extra red tones, just work with what you’ve naturally got.
Bronzers are no longer muddy hued flat colour, or so glittery you look like a disco ball. There's a new wave of innovative, tan enhancing bronzers in town and here are a few of the ones we are loving:
My Favourite: Dolce & Gabbana Animalier Glow Bronzing Powder
My current favorite by a long shot. Probably due to my obsession with anything leopard print. The 3 shades of dark bronze, medium bronze and a pinky highlighter perfectly swirl together for the most gorgeous shade of tan I’ve ever seen, with just the right amount of “glow”.
The Bargain Bronze: Rimmel Natural Bronzer
For when you need a pick me up at the end of the month beofre payday has kicked in. This gorgeous, light reflecting natural hued bronzer gives an instant radiance. Perfect for when the sun goes down.
The Blush Bronze: Nars Multiple In Cap Vert
This shade is perfect for those on the paler side. This pinky undertone is universally flattering even for those who tend to go pink instead of tan - you will be able to fake it with the rest of us with this bronze beauty. Travel-friendly, no need for a brush, smooths on effortlessly, but it can be easily blended for a healthy glow or definition. The lightweight formula is hydrating and long-lasting, a summer holiday must have!
The Cream Alternative: Benefit Bronzer in Dew the Hoola
Following in the footsteps of their cult classic Hoola Powder this is great for those who like to rock the glowy skin, or dewy skin look, easy to apply and blends like a dream.
The Crowd Pleaser: Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder
This was my first foray into luxury bronzers and I still hold a flame for it’s tawny glow. Fake an endless summer with this oil free formula and best of all the buildable coverage means you can use it through winter to perk up tired skin too.
