Met Gala 2015: The Beauty Looks We Can Steal

Posted by in Makeup

Huge Yellow Gown This year’s Met Gala proved, yet again, to live up to its extravagant display of haute couture. In alignment with the museum's "China, Through the Looking Glass" exhibition, the theme saw everything from Lady Gaga’s outlandish Balenciaga kimono to Cara Delavigne’s ‘oriental’ transfer tattoos—in a nutshell, a lot of uncomfortable cultural appropriation. Despite the caricatured renditions of China, there were many makeup looks that totally swept us off our feet.

Lily Aldrige

Lily Aldridge

This look captured our attention with its balanced aesthetic of minimal and audacious: the plum lip perfectly complimented by the simplicity of wispy, long eyelashes. Replicate the supermodel’s look with Burberry’s Satin Lipstick in the shade ‘Bright Plum’, and a coat or two of Jane Iredale’s Longest Lash Thickening & Lengthening Mascara. It also doesn’t hurt that Jane Iredale’s mascara is packaged in the chicest squeezable gold tube.

Kendall Jenner

Kendall is queen of clean, understated makeup looks, and this one is no exception. The glistening cream eye shadow allows her eyes to take grand stage, whilst her lips remain demure in a nude hue. Achieve the same look as Kendall with Laura Mercier’s Sateen Eye in ‘Vanilla Nuts’, and Clarins’ Instant Light Lip Perfector in ‘Rose Shimmer’. Perfect for day and night, this look is incredibly versatile.

Diana Kruger

How the actress makes a punchy orange lip look so delicate must only be sorcery. Paired with dewy skin and baby pink blusher, Diana’s projection of 60s bohemian chic makes us want to stop what we’re doing and dress our face just like hers. Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in ‘Coral In Touch’ is the perfect orange-red lipstick to suit all skin tones. Complete the look with Stila’s Baked Cheek Duo to give an illuminating pink flush to your cheeks.

Cassie Ventura

Cassie might not be the most famed celebrity, but she definitely ruled the Met Gala with her subtle and elegant makeup choice. An ideal look for the sunnier months, use NARS’ Illuminator to sculpt and highlight your cheekbones and bridge of your nose. Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick will also help add a neutral, warm glow to your eyelids, creating an effortless bronzed goddess look.
