Looking back at my bank statements over the past year I’ve noticed just how much money I spend on beauty products. Of course, I have a whole room full of them to show for it, but with my wedding just a few months away it’s time I made some cutbacks and started saving money. Finding out what causes adult acne and what products can help get rid of it in time for my big day is one way to help kill two birds with one stone.

Spring time is full of chocolate feasts, daffodils and one big spring clean. Clear out old clothes, things you no longer need and getting rid of products that don’t work for you or are past their use-by date and instead replace them with multi-use products that can help get rid of your adult acne, wrinkles or dry skin and also target other skin concern at the same time. Multi-use products are great time-savers too so you can use just 1 product instead of 3 in your morning routine such as this 3-in-1 Garnier Pure Active Wash-Scrub-Mask.

It’s easy to save money when saving for a big event, holiday or the handbag of your dreams simply by managing your money and looking what your biggest outgoings are and trying to cut back. For me, outside of bills, I definitely spend way too much money on food, trips to the shops and online shopping. The beauty quiz on My Beauty Matches has helped me hugely as I can find the cheapest deal on my favourite products using the price comparison tool and I’m not wasting money any more on products that just don’t work for me. I have a whole storage box full of products that I’ve used a few times only to discover they’re not suitable for my skin or don’t help me combat my biggest skin concerns such as uneven skin tone or getting rid of adult acne. What a waste!

Buying 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 products cuts down on spending and time whilst targeting my areas of concern and working well with my skin type so there’s no more product wastage and very little spending on beauty products.

Using the Elizabeth Arden 2-in-1 Cleanser or this Youth Corridor Dual Action Cleanser help sweep away tiny traces of makeup as well as purifying and cleansing the skin or toxins, imperfections and dead skin cells. Working as a moisturiser and a serum, Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Serum with Retinol boosts skin elasticity and moisture whilst enriching it with nutrients and vitamins to work on perfecting the skin’s complexion.

You can also use normal products for a multitude of applications, for example, a brown brow pencil such as this Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil as a natural smokey brown eyeliner pencil or this The Body Shop Stain for both your lips and your cheeks. You can even use a lipstick as an eyeshadow and a brown eyeshadow such as this NARS Bali Eyeshadow as an eyebrow powder. There’s so many possibilities to cut down on the number of products you use each day, which will go a long way to preventing one of the causes of adult acne, which for me can occur when I overload my face with product.

To have your own spring clean, you need to go through each of your products and chuck out any that you’ve had longer than you’re supposed to. Each piece of makeup and skin care product has a number of months before you need to chuck it away. Keeping to these dates ensures your products stay at their optimum condition and don’t cause irritation to your skin or adult acne once they’re past their date - you could put yourself at risk of infection! It’s great having 6 foundations to choose from, but if you can’t use them all up before their 6 month lifespan comes to an end, you’ve wasted a lot of money on products you can’t use.

Take our beauty quiz to find multi-use products that can help cut down your getting ready time and save you money by ensuring you only buy products that will work for your skin type and combat your skin concerns.
