How To Get Your Feet Beach Ready

It may only be the middle of March but it’s never too early to get your feet looking summer ready! I know it’s a scary prospect after what seems like years of cold, wet weather, but it is possible and you’ll be so glad you did it.

So whether you have regular pedicures with a beautician or are a DIY kinda gal, I’ve got some great tips, tricks and products to help you keep your feet looking smooth and healthy all year round.

Soak Your Feet

Rule number one of having pretty looking feet is to soak them for at least 15 minutes a week in warm water and a little foot soak. A foot soak that I’m loving at the moment is Leighton Denny’s Expert Sole Relief Foot Soak. It will soften, moisturise and exfoliate dry, hard feet leaving them purified and cleansed. It will also help to soft your nails if you suffer from excessively hard toenails. The Leighton Denny Sole Relief Foot Soak also contains Lemon Grass, Peppermint and Tea Tree Leaf to give your feet that ultimate pedicure experience.

Use a Foot Scrub

If you have particularly hard feet it’s a good idea to add a foot scrub into your pedicure routine. This helps to get rid of any excess rough skin and makes it a lot easier to file down. The No7 Beautiful Skin Softening Foot Scrub will leave your feet feeling wonderfully conditioned due to the combination of nourishing Almond and Grapeseed oils along with Vitamin B5.

File Your Feet

Filing your feet can be seen as a bit of a chore, but it’s absolutely essential if you want smooth, soft feet! I’ve been really enjoying the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi with Diamond Crystals as it does all the work for you! Buffing away hard skin in minutes due to the Micralumina roller heads with micro-abrasive particles, it leaves you with professional-level results after just one use.

Use A Foot Peel/Mask

A foot mask can be seen as a bit of a luxury, and to be honest it is, but it’s still a really good addition to your pedicure routine to help you achieve beach ready feet. Kocostar’s Foot Peeling Foot Mask is a little time consuming but when you do have a spare hour it’s a great way to really treat your feet and chill out while the product works its magic. Your feet will peel for 3 to 4 days after using the mask so this is definitely something you want to do in advance if you have an event or holiday to go to, but trust me the results will be worth it!

Moisturise Regularly

After your feet have been well and truly smoothed by the foot file, it’s time to moisturise them. Remember, the soles of your feet are still skin and therefore need regular moisturising like rest of your body. A good option to go for is the Elemis Treat Your Feet Foot Cream. It’s infused with a blend of aromatic patchouli, eucalyptus and lemon oils to keep your feet smelling sweet while also leaving them feeling moisturised and soft.

Cuticle Work

Now we’ve sorted out the skin on your feet, it’s time to move onto your nails. Nail and cuticle oil is such an underused tool by people doing at home pedicures. It’s a great product to promote healthy, strong nail growth and to also keep the cuticles moisturised. Nails Inc Superfood Repair Oil is enriched with Sweet Almond, Argan and Rose Hip oils and is also rich in antioxidants and Vitamin A. Simply massage into the nails and cuticles twice a week for maximum results.

Nail Varnish

Congratulations, you’re at the final stage! Now a pedicure wouldn’t be complete without a flash of colour and what better way to prepare for summer than to don a bright red polish. Butter London’s Patent Shine 10x Nail Lacquer in Smashing is the perfect start of summer shade. The formula is also fade-resistant, fast-drying, and applies effortlessly to deliver chip-resistant colour with a gel-like cushioned effect for up to ten days.

If you’re not into coloured nail polish or don’t like the shape of your toenails and don't want to emphasis them with a bright colour, opt for a clear or nude polish. Or even better use a nail strengthener to help promote strong, healthy nails. Try Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength Instant Instant Nail Hardener.
