The 2 Products You Need To Tame Frizz For Good
Posted by Jasmine Taylor-Moran in Hair
I’ve suffered from long, thick, voluminous hair all my life. I say suffered as it really isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. All my hairbands snap under pressure, hair appointments take hours and washing and drying my hair is a chore which I’ve had to restrict to just a few times per week. As my mum has curly hair and my dad has straight, I’ve been cursed with the in-between where it’s just frizzy waves that just look like I’ve got a hairband kink. Team that with constantly trying to find the best way to get rid of split ends and you wouldn’t want hair like mine.
Frizz occurs when the cuticle layer of the hair is raised rather than smooth. This allows moisture to pass through the cuticle and swell up the strands, making the hair appear dry and less uniform and sleek. In general, those with curly hair tend to have more frizz than straight hair due to natural dehydration of the hair strands, which leaves it more likely to swell and become frizzy.
Hair can become dehydrated for many reasons, and there are many ways you can rectify the condition for example, sleeping on satin or silk sheets can stop your hair from rubbing against drying materials such as cotton. Invest in a great pillowcase to keep your hair always looking its best - this can also help get rid of split ends caused by dehydration and colour damage. Other reasons your hair may be dehydrated could be down to the amount of water you drink, not eating a balanced diet, not conditioning often enough , the use of highly concentrated chemicals within your existing hair care products or even using the wrong shampoo.
