We've Tried And Tested The 7 Best Gel Effect Nail Polishes

There’s something to be said about the proficiently polished texture to gel effect nails, that’s hard to steer clear from especially during the Summer months.
Like many young girls of today, I became infatuated with the art of wearing nail polish from about the age of 7 years old, to the point where sitting on my hands at every available opportunity on a Sunday evening soon became my specialist Sunday tactic, to disguise the fact I was still wearing streaks of fuchsia pink polish, before heading off to primary school the next day.
Whilst keeping my nails in prestige condition is pretty much in my job description today, it’s a trait I wouldn't change for the world.
And so to be in keeping with my new fascination for gel effect polishes, the My Beauty Matches girls and I have spent the last few weeks painting our hands an odd variation of colours, in order to deliver a timely yet truthful tried and tested piece.
Rimmel have pretty much nailed the gel effect leaderboard with their Super Gel Polish in Coral Queen, £5.99. This formula is so good that it's gone beyond our expectation as a gel polish and even proved itself to be a 2 - in - 1 nail hardener that's helped to grow and strengthen our nails. With a 2 week plus long wear that doesn't exactly come of easily, if this isn’t nail satisfaction we don’t know what is.
Whether it’s on your hands or your feet, staple white nails are pretty much classed as the official stamp of Summer. Essie’s Gel Couture in Pre - Show Jitters, £9.99 creates the perfect gel effect finish for stand out Summer nails.
Nails Inc have captured the art of Summer in a bottle with their Gel Effect Polish in Seven Dials, £15. Highly pigmented with an ultra plumping effect, this fast drying polish takes longevity to a new level.
For a gel effect shade that’s easily buildable and compliments darker skin tones skin well, Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel in Cabernet With Bae, £9.99 is another one of our top favourites, not only does this gel effect polish go the distance with a long wear formula, it also gives the illusion of a professional manicure too.
Fuschia pinks are ultimately one of my favourite nail colours all year round, but during the Summer months their presence creates even more of a significant purpose. OPI’s Infinite Shine 2 in Running With The Infinite Crowd, £13.95 is a gorgeous high shine shade that compliments all skin tones.
Taupe nudes work particularly well all year round and even more so during the summer months, try Revlon's Colorstay Gel Envy in Checkmate, £5 for a 2 - in - 1 colour and base shade that will accentuate lighter outfits and leave your nails with a long lasting shine.
Would this really be a Summer line up if we didn't throw in a coral shade? Dior's Nail Vernis in Coral Crush, £20 has scored top marks with us which we couldn't help but share with you. We love this shade for its ultra pigmented colour, super stay formula and easy to apply applicator brush, which helps to provide the perfect gel effect mani in under 5 minutes!
