The Best Of Beauty From This Weekend’s Cannes Film Festival
Posted by rachael-wheeler in Lifestyle, Makeup, Hair
We have almost 2 weeks in which to revel in the magic that is Cannes Film Festival 2016; where Hollywood decamps on mass and heads over to France to attend film screenings, premieres, do deals, and see who will win the coveted Palme D’Or. This is one of the best time of the year to see the latest (and greatest) beauty looks of the year. With the daytime element, this festival calls for a little more undone beauty, whilst the Met is mesmerising for the high octane impact each look showcases, Cannes takes inspiration from it’s heritage and the undone insouciance we see from many a French beauty is the order of the day on the red carpet. Well, actually that's not strictly true, as many of the best looks are off the red carpet. From those literally just stepped off a yacht, daytime photo calls to the after parties in the balmy evening air. The celebrities pull out all the stops in Cannes and we can’t wait to show you which ones are our favourites so far.
Blake Lively at Slack Bay Premier
Whilst Blake lively's pregnancy glow is truly helping her to look blooming lovely, this evening look is another eye catcher from Cannes. Just enough make up to enhance her glow, it's soft, sunkissed and the tonal pinks that grace her eyes, lips and cheeks make her blue eyes pop even more.
Get the look: Guerlain Météorites Voyage Mythic £108.00 this subtly pearlescent highlighter acts like a brush on facial. The light-enhancing colours, will make you as radient as Blake. Sadly Ryan Reynolds is not included.
Bella Hadid at Cafe Society Premier
I have three words for you; cheekbones, cheekbones, cheekbones. Genes may have helped somewhat but there's no denying that this pared down contouring really enhances her best features. For those who can't give up contouring completely for summer, this lighter take is your perfect beauty look.
Get the look: Switch your usual foundation for a tinted moisturiser and then sweep on Armani Sun Fabric Bronzer 200 Amber £38.75 around your temples, under cheekbones and around the jawline.
Cheryl Cole at Slack Bay Premier
Who needs aircon, when you're standing near Cheryl fluttering her eyelashes. They mush create quite a breeze. Her lashes are a perfect lesson in how to enhance without looking overdone.
Get the look: If you can't master subtle falsies, Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils Volume Effet Mascara Shocking Black £19.95 will give you some serious length and volume without the fiddly bits.
Doutzen Kroes at Cafe Society Premier
Douzen is the perfect example of the "no makeup" make up that's seen in Cannes.
Get the look: It's no surprise than L'oreal Model Douzen is showcasing their range on the red carpet, and doing it oh so well. Blend L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation Dw5 Gold Sand £10.99 in with your fingers, the warmth will leave you with a deliciously luminous and natural looking complexion.
Lily Rose Depp At The Dancer Photocall
Not only did Lily Rose step out in a hoody and shorts for the photo call at Cannes (admittedly they were Chanel) and looked amazing. She was almost the spitting image of her ultra chic mother Vanessa Paradis. All lythe limbs, honey hair and typical french cool. A far cry from photos of me in the South of France at 16 let me tell you...
Get the look: Go back to your teenage roots and perk up natural waves with Leonor Greyl Algues & Fleurs Curl Enhancer Spray £22.25, for the softest hair that perfectly embodies Lily's Parisian style.
Amal Clooney at Money Monster Premier
Amal kept things simple with a beautiful, dewy complexion, a touch of eyeliner and a glossy, bold lip. The warm, orange tint makes it glamorous, but perfect for daytime. However, the real beauty winner of this look are her tumbling, glossy curls.
Get the look: Aveda Be Curly™ Style Prep £21.00 will keep curls bouncy and frizz free even in heat and humidity. A curly girls ultimate red carpet (or for those who don't walk them very often - holiday) hero.
