The Hottest Haircut This Season

Posted by in Hair

Things are heating up, and we're not just referring to the weather. This season's much-loved bob and lob hairstyles are having a major moment. From the catwalk to the red carpet, this hairstyle is fast becoming a firm favourite amongst celebs and fashionistas.

Considering taking the plunge and chopping off your long locks in favour of this season's hottest hairstyle? Unlike a super short pixie cut, the bob (or lob if you prefer) is flattering on most face shapes and so versatile. Having recently upgraded to a bob myself, I can attest to the true versatility of this cut! While there are restrictions when it comes to intricate braiding, the styling possibilities are endless.

Sleek side-parting

If you prefer to keep your hair looking sleek, then a deep side parted bob is your go-to. This look can be created by running your straightening iron through the lengths of your hair and finishing off with a slight inward flick when you reach the ends of your hair. For the ultimate glossy finish, we suggest applying a shine serum to the lower third of your hair. Pair with a bold red lip and you're all set for the red carpet.

Textured centre-part

For an everyday laid back look, there is nothing cooler than textured strands paired with a center part. Rather than creating defined curls, loosely wrap sections of hair around your curling wand and then brush the waves out before spritzing with a dry texturising spray. It is important to remember to curl strands in alternate directions to create a style that looks effortless and slightly undone. (This is currently my go-to way to style my new bob)

Soft waves

Planning a romantic night out? Let us introduce you to the soft wave - think old Hollywood glam meets finger waves. Using a large barrel curling tong, create one or two waves per section of hair. Unlike the textured center part, you want to curl each section in the same direction. Once curled, lightly brush through your hair with a soft-bristled round brush and spritz with a light hold hair spray. While this style works well with all partings, we are partial to a side part as it adds an ultra-feminine look and feel.

All about the fringe

If you're a fringe kinda gal and you're thinking of making the chop, you're in luck! The Grand Dame of Vogue, Anna Wintour, has been rocking her fringed bob for years. Quite frankly, any hairstyle that has her stamp of approval is a winner in our books. The key to creating this look is to ensure that your tresses are in tip-top shape. Apply a smoothing blow dry cream and using a round soft bristle brush, blow dry your hair. Using a blow dry cream will not only minimise frizz, but the end result will mimic that of a professional blow out.
