What Is Sun Stripping And Does It Involve Getting Naked?

If you love how contouring and strobing makes you look, then you’re going to love THIS! As the sun’s coming out and you feel the need for a little more colour in your face you’re going to fall head over heels for the latest beauty technique of Sun Stripping! It’s a genius bronzing technique that makes you look as if you’ve spend two weeks in the Bahamas rather than two weeks traipsing around London, with the most exotic adventure being nipping to Tesco in the rain. Are you intrigued yet? Yes? Excellent. So what is sun stripping exactly, and how can I too, get that gorgeous post holiday glow that has been sported on the catwalks everywhere from Michael Kors to Gucci this season?
Well, luckily for you, we’ve done the hard work for you and put together a fail safe way to sun stripping (and no, it doesn’t involve removing any clothes).Basically, sun stripping is the latest way to apply your bronzer. It gives you a realistic bronze glow and is one helluva lot quicker than contouring. Experts say it’s the coolest way to bronze these days. So far, what’s not to like.
So now that you know “what is sun stripping?” It’s time to learn how to do it and the best sunkissed products to help you achieve that post beach glow.
Think about where the sun would first hit your face when sunbathing lying down; the highest points of your face and your nose and apples of your cheeks. You want to enhance the areas that would naturally tan. Begin by brushing a matt bronzer such as the legendary Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder £35.50 in a stripe, from the bridge of your nose to the top of your ear on both sides of your face. It may look a little ridiculous now, but don't worry, it won’t for long. This is my absolute go-to bronzer for a natural tanned glow, although any fairer skinned beauties could swap it for the Guerlain Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder £35.50 for the prettiest flush of sun kissed colour.
Then blend, blend, blend using a soft, dome shaped brush. The Japonesque Pro Bronzer Brush £18.00 can be found in any pro make up artists kit as the short handle gives you more precision and the head is the perfect shape for buffing out colour so you aren’t left with any tell tale lines. Make sure you blow off any excess powder before you start, you want to look sun stripped not sun stripey.
A lingering sign of winter can be cracked, dry lips, so to fake convincingly make sure you slather on a nourishing balm. For a final touch I like to add a swipe of this gorgeous luminescent lip colour Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Caramel £5.99 the caramel tones of the lip butter perfectly compliment the sunkissed and healthy glow of your (newly) tanned face.
Grab your bronzer and get buffing. You can go from “what is sun stripping?” To a beach goddess in a flash. *Looks at pale face in a mirror...I’M IN. Someone pass me a bronzer quick!
