The Top Beauty Trends That Defined 2015

As the year winds down to a close, we can’t help looking back over the best beauty trends of 2015. It’s been a strong year for beauty, with some truly inspired ideas and some, well, not. So sit back and enjoy our round-up of the best beauty and makeup trends of 2015.
Hair Contouring Hair contouring is the art of using well placed highlights and darker tones to compliment certain face shapes. Whether you love it or hate it this trend is one that took off amongst many celebrities and we think when done well, it looks amazing. To find out more about hair contouring click here.
Flash Of Colour This pop art style eye makeup began featuring on runways earlier this year as makeup artists traded the conventional eye shadows for strips of brightly coloured leather, satin stickers and swipes of lipstick. It’s a bold makeup trend which you can work into your daily makeup with a bright coloured eye liner. To shop our range, click here.
Pretty In Peach This gorgeous, natural makeup trend took off in 2015, using peach blushers to accentuate the cheekbones and eyes. With such a gorgeous glow this trend is impossible not to love and one product we think is perfect for recreating this trend is this Pinch Your Cheeks Powder Blush in Sunset Peach from Origins £22.
Brown-eyed Girl Brown got an upgrade in 2015 with this striking “Brown-eyed girl” makeup trend. Using various shades of brown multiple makeup artists worked the look into runway shows for designers including Donna Karan, Gucci, Giorgio Armani and Givenchy. With so many different styles and ways to work this look we think it’s a great trend to continue on into 2016. Want to try it at home? We think this Bare Minerals Eyeshadow in Java £11.29 is perfect for recreating the Brown-eyed girl look.
Flaming Lips Another gorgeous makeup trend to hit the runways in 2015 was the “Flaming Lips” look, using deep, bright and always bold colours to accentuate the mouth. From sultry plum at Dolce & Gabbana (left) to flirty orange-reds at Zac Posen (right) we love the versatility of this look and think it’s definitely one to work into your makeup repertoire. If you’d like to discover your Flaming Lips look, you can shop our gorgeous range of lipstick colours here.
Fine Lines Kitten flicks and fine lines were a strong trend throughout 2015 with many makeup artists working black liquid eye liner into the runway show makeup looks. From bold flicks at Prada (middle) to subtle outlines at Emilia Pucci (right) this makeup trend can be catered to suit your own style. For clean and precise lines this Precision Gel Liner from Illamasqua £20 is a great product to discover your fine line style.
Bare Minimum (Proving that sometimes less is more) We love any style that celebrates natural beauty and none did that so well as this Bare Minimum style which featured from makeup artists at Chloe and Calvin Klein. This makeup look consisted of well, not a lot really, as models went without foundation or mascara and rocked their natural beauty on the runway. To achieve a “Barely There” look some artists, including those at Jason Wu, used pinky-nude lipsticks and light blush to accentuate the model’s natural features. For a Barely There makeup look why not try this Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Smoked Peach from Revlon £7.49 and accentuate your natural beauty.
And so ends another great year of beauty, with so many gorgeous makeup trends being discovered in 2015 this year definitely goes down as a success in our books. The makeup trends from 2015 inspired us to be a little more daring with our look and we can't wait to see what 2016 has in store for us. Happy New Year beauty addicts!
