Tried & Tested - Beauty Staples Every Woman Needs To Own
Posted by Nitya Uppal in Tried & Tested, Makeup
The highlight of my job is that I get to check out different beauty products day in and day out. And since I get paid to do it, friends and family aren’t allowed to complain about my makeup addiction. As lucky as it gets, right? When I’m strolling through a mall my eyes (and legs) generally seem to find themselves in the direction of beauty kiosks. Other than constantly reading beauty blogs, scrolling through Instagram profiles and flipping through magazines, I also spend hours at Sephora/Boots/Selfridges picking the brains of assistants who are trying very hard to sell me their products. But I’m not an easy audience. After years of research there are certain products I haven't been able to replace in my makeup kit.
Here’s a lowdown on beauty products every woman should own.
Benefit did well by naming this product after the sentence you’re most going to be using after applying this mascara,“I swear they’re real!”. After discovering the magic of makeup in high school, I made it my goal to find the best mascara that existed. In my opinion the power of a good mascara is underestimated - it’s that one beauty product that makes you look more fresh and awake without ever looking “caked up”. The formula of this particular mascara is jet black and smoothly lays on your lashes. The brush has been designed in a way that you can reach the smallest of lashes without mistakenly hitting the eyelid. A quick swipe of Benefit’s They’re Real, a dab of glossy lip gloss and you’re ready to take on the day.
With a brush perfect for creating a precise feline flick, we’re holding onto these bottles like a kid holds onto candy. The only qualm we have with the product is that it isn't entirely waterproof, so if you decide to re-watch The Notebook after spending hours perfecting your cat’s eye flick then we suggest you keep the following product handy..
With the barrage of makeup that I have tried out you’ll believe when I tell you that I might have tried out as many makeup removers. There are certain products in the market that will make you scrub your makeup off, which results in sensitive skin and red patches. The mark of the perfect makeup remover is when in a single swipe it can remove your eyeliner and mascara, without making your eyes sting. Estee Lauder’s Gentle Eye Makeup Remover checks all the right boxes.
If you’ve been hunting for the secret behind the Kardashian’s not-so-natural glow, your search ends here. This highlighter catches the light to give you a red carpet-worthy radiance. You can use the product as a highlighter on your cheekbones, as well as doubling it up as an eyeshadow. Another noteworthy contender is Benefit’s High Beam, which is a liquid illuminator that smoothly lays on your foundation. If you want your carefully created makeup look to last you the entire night then you may want to learn the super useful baking technique, read all about it here.
Overcrowded makeup aisles make it easy to get confused about what to shop. We understand better than anyone else that nothing feels worse than picking up a product that just doesn't work for you. So we did the dirty work for you and found makeup essentials that you need to try out.
