Tried & Tested: Bioeffect Epidermal Growth Factor Facial

This week's tried and tested is the Bioeffect Epidermal Growth Factor Facial at Liberty, at £75.00 for an hour this mid price facial treatment has been carefully designed to restore and regenerate your skin, leaving you with a glowing, healthier looking complexion. Post holidays this sounds exactly what my skin needs.
I am slightly obsessed with my skin (I guess that must be obvious as that is why I started My Beauty Matches) and have a stringent, daily anti aging skincare regime. If only I put as much effort in my fitness regime, then maybe I would be a size 6 by now...sighs wistfully However, when it comes to my skin I am quite lucky I don’t have big breakouts but since I am in my 30s, preventative measures have taken over. I am big on prevention for wrinkles as well as age spots which can be quite common for women with Indian skin.
There are many anti-ageing facials out there and it can sometimes be confusing to know which one to feature for a review on My Beauty Matches. As no one wants to read about just any old facial, as we’ve all had one of those, where's the interest in that? To get a featured review, they need to be something special…
Enter the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) by BIOEFFECT at Liberty. The brand originated from Iceland (one of my favourite places in the world,) but you are probably wondering what the hell is EGF and what on earth does it do to my face?
Bioeffect skin care products are the world's first to contain cellular activators made in plants, in this case a type of grass, barley seeds to be specific. In particular, this facial focuses upon their hero product, the BIOEFFECT EGF SERUM. A ground-breaking, anti-ageing serum that claims to delivers visible, dramatic improvements to your skin. Now this is where it gets technical, the EGF (epidermal growth factor) and other cellular activators work as natural signalling molecules between skin cells. The EGF recognises and binds to a specific receptor on the outer surface of skin cells. The receptor in turn delivers a message to the cell nucleus – the 'control centre' of the cell, leading to increased production of collagen and elastin within the skin, and promoting younger looking skin. Not bad for a humble old barley seed. This is now one of the key natural ingredients in Iceland, with over 30% of women above the age of 30 using it.
Whilst I headed to Liberty’s with slight trepidation about having a facial in what is essentially a department store, my mind was soon at ease. The treatment rooms are large and airy and surprisingly, the hustle and bustle of shoppers doesn’t penetrate this calming beauty realm.
The one hour rejuvenating facial is targeted to restore skin using lymphatic drainage and and deep tissue massage together with the EGF active ingredients to stimulate and repair facial skin cells. Throughout the treatment the facialist deep cleansed my skin with the Bioeffects volcanic exfoliator which contains Icelandic micro-crystalline lava, and then massaged in their Bioeffect daytime rich moisturiser and the BIOEFFECT EGF day serum on me.
Post treatment there was no redness that you get with some facials, just an even skin tone and even my pores looked smaller. My skin was honestly glowing after just one treatment. This is a great relaxing facial, ideal for before a big event, such as a wedding. Guaranteed to give you fast results without the worry of any unexpected breakouts afterwards.
I was so impressed with my treatment that I actually bought the exfoliator post treatment so I can continue to see the results at home. 3 weeks later and my pores have diminished and my skin tone looks brighter and more refined. Perhaps these Icelandic women are onto something...
