Tried & Tested: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Posted by in Tried & Tested, Makeup

Although it is has long been a firm favourite amongst beauty bloggers, I have only just got round to trying the famous NARS Sheer Glow foundation. Why? Reviews led me to believe that it was very similar to my much-loved YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation (see review) and I didn’t think I would love it as much. Wanting to spice things up a little, however, I finally bit the bullet and purchased the infamous NARS Sheer Glow.

First of all, the impressive selection of shades offered (each category - light, medium and dark - boasts a range of pink, yellow and mixed undertones) meant I was able to find my perfect colour match. I opted for Deauville which, with a mixture of pink and yellow undertones, is ideal for my neutral-toned fair skin. To begin with, I applied the foundation with my fingers as recommended by NARS, but, to minimise mess, I gradually began to use my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. This is an entirely personal preference, but, as far as I can see, both methods achieve the same finish - the only difference being that the brush seems to hold on to some of the product so requires a little more.

Sheer Glow is buildable to about a medium coverage, immaculately evening skin tone and concealing minor blemishes. For the occasional bigger blemish, I simply apply a little of my NARS’ radiant creamy concealer, which blends seamlessly into the foundation. The absolute highlight of Sheer Glow is its dreamy satin finish - although not especially glowy as the name might suggest, it promotes natural radiance to achieve a smooth, bright, gorgeous complexion. With a light dusting of powder around the T-Zone, the foundation also maintains its even coverage all day, which some foundations struggle to do without oxidising or highlighting dry patches.

Taking all of that into consideration, NARS Sheer Glow is, without a doubt, a new contender in the running for our ultimate ‘Holy Grail’ foundation. Have you tried NARS Sheer Glow? What did you think? We’d love to hear your thoughts - tweet us at @MyBeautyMatches!
