How To Repair Sun Damaged Hair
Posted by Stephanie Orr in Hair, Tried & Tested
With the joy of any holiday brings the after effects of post holiday blues, back to work struggles and not forgetting the repercussions of sun stressed hair.
As a curly hair enthusiast I’m no stranger to a bit of frizz as my hair often struggles to maintain hydration, but if there’s one thing that really gets my hair in a twist it’s the appearance of dry and damaged strands from the result of sun exposure, especially after I've spent the last fortnight maintaining a systematical hair conditioning routine.
No matter how much leave in conditioner I saturate my hair with or how often I wear my over sized sun hat, the UV rays are still there and it's only a matter of time before my hair resembles a mass of strands that's just been rescued from the Sahara desert.
It's no secret that once the damage to hair has been done there's not a lot of going back, but there are ways to minimise the visibility of the damage and put a stop to anymore damage occurring. Pre shampoo treatments, leave in masks and hair oils all work wonders to combat the effects of super dry sun damaged hair. I tried and tested the hair mask that's currently making waves on social media which goes by the name of Coco & Eve.
If scents could talk Coco & Eve's Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque, £34.95 would say, 'I'm the one you've been waiting for.' Enriched with argan oil and shea butter, this Balinese derived hair masque sold over 85,000 units in its first 8 weeks and is the ultimate recipe for hella happy hair.
Packaged in an easy to grip tub which is ideal for those slippery showers, Coco & Eve's Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque proclaims to be a 5 - in 1 treatment to restore dry and damaged hair, improve hair texture and shine, hydrate and deeply condition, treat split ends, tame frizz and restore hair back to its natural state in only 10 minutes. It also comes with a tangle teezer to aid with smoothing the masque into damp her and detangling knots into a new dimension.
Applying the whipped textured masque generously to my mass of curls, I placed a shower cap over my hair afterwards to reap the maximum benefits and left it on for an extra 10 minutes, as I'm a big believer in getting the most out of masques and I have to say I wasn't disappointed, the social media buzz to Coco and Eve is real, I repeat REAL.
Washing the masque off 30 minutes later my hair felt silky smooth and much more manageable then it usually is and not to mention divinely scented. The effects of holiday hair may put a dampener on things for the first 24 hours of homecoming but I can guarantee they certainly won't last for long with top treatments like this one from Coco & Eve.
