Having seen first hand just what amazing things Chelseé can do for our skin and even becoming our Founder’s regular facialist, we can attest to the results a good facial can achieve. We had the chance to catch up with Chelseé to get some tips and tricks and find out why everyone should get regular facials.

What first interested you in the world of beauty?

For me, I would say that it’s something I’ve always been interested in and I’ve always loved researching the latest technologies in skincare and beauty. When I was a child I had really bad acne and as you know, children tease, so I know how hard it is to live with. With your body, it’s easier to cover things you don’t like, but with your face, you can’t cover it up, it’s always harder. My heart goes out to clients who have skin issues and that’s exactly why I wanted to pursue this career - to help them.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Seeing my clients leave with a sense of happiness is really fulfilling. When they leave more calm and relaxed and above all, happy - it’s great to be a part of that. I get to help them de-stress, love the way they look and I get to see changes develop in their skin after each treatment, whether it’s the cleansing or firming treatments, is very rewarding.

What tips would you give to an aspiring celebrity facialist?

For anyone starting out, the best thing is to improve their knowledge and learn the most they can, be the best and do the best they can and do it from the heart. Above all else, I have always treated clients how I would want to be treated when I receive facials, you would want customer care to be your top priority, you’ve always got to be on top of your game to succeed.

I get approached a lot via social media, establishing yourself online is also really important. People who have approached me would never have heard of me if it weren’t for social media, it’s great because it’s for everyone. But it’s like another job in itself, it takes a lot of work, but Instagram is great as you get to be really artistic with it, with the images you put up and the overall ‘image’ you put across. You can connect with companies and people who have the same interests and grow your network that way as well as receive questions and queries which gives you a chance to show your expertise and help people who could then become clients.

If you could only use 3 skincare products for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Definitely an Exfoliator, everyone calls me the exfoliator queen, I can’t get enough of them. This Decleor Paris Source D’eclat Radiance Exfoliating Cream is fantastic for a radiance boost. Second would be a mask, they’re brilliant and really give your skin an extra boost of moisture and nutrients. I always tell my clients to use the Eve Lom Moisture Mask overnight as it’s really enriching and encourages cell-renewal to hydrate and repair the skin while you sleep. My final product would be a day cream like the Decleor Paris Aurabsolu Day Cream which is a lightweight energising cream that has countless benefits for the skin.

Skincare is the most important thing people need to be educated about when it comes to beauty. You see all these young girls and boys these days rushing to buy makeup and apply makeup because of people like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, but these young teens aren’t looking after their skin so they are putting on all this makeup day in, day out, without knowing what harm it is doing to their skin underneath. They need to be taught from a young age that skincare is important and it’s really important to me that I help educate them. If they learn it when they’re young, those habits will stay with them and mean they’ll have amazing skin when they’re older, when it matters most. I have many clients now that bring their sons and daughters in for facials and other skin treatments and it’s great to see parents doing that for their kids.

Talk us through your signature treatment…

My signature treatment is called Le Visage. The treatment begins with a double cleanse and a chance to analyse the skin. All my treatments are tailor made for each client to their skin type and skin concerns. This is followed by gommage exfoliation, a steam and then extraction, which is the removal of blackheads and whiteheads to clear toxins from the pores. Once clear, I follow up with a micropeel or aqua microdermabrasion - depending on the client’s skin requirements, then move on to the massaging to bring about general well-being. The massage includes a lymphatic drainage to detoxify the body, targeting pressure points and apply a relaxing mask while I move on to the shoulder and hand massages. Once fully detoxified, I remove the mask and apply an appropriate cream for their skin needs. This all lasts about an hour and 15 minutes in total.

All of my treatments are results driven and a complete pampering experience.

What’s your secret to achieving your youthful glowing skin?

For me, sleep is a big factor, they call it beauty sleep for a reason. When you’re asleep, that’s your skin’s time to repair itself and rehydrate, regenerate and also rest. Water is also a big factor to keep skin glowing as well as regularly exercising and eating the right diet. Maintaining a good home skincare routine and going for regular facials is important to keeping wrinkles at bay. But most of all, you need a good moisturiser and to alternate between moisturisers throughout your life as your skin isn’t the same each season and each year, you need one that works for your skin at that very time

Use our beauty quiz to find the right moisturiser for you.

Do you have any DIY skincare hacks we can steal?

It’s one that’s been around for ages but I swear by it. Using coconut oil, doesn’t just whiten teeth but oil pulling has many benefits. Oil pulling is a cheap and cheerful and is great for so many different things.

Take a teaspoon of raw coconut oil and let it melt in your mouth. Swish around for 20 minutes first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. The oil pulls out the toxins from your body, you can really feel it working and is great for hangovers too. It energises, prevents tooth decay, plaque and it’s good for joints and bones, it’s amazing that something so natural and simple gives all these benefits.

What would you say to someone who’s never had a facial before?

Try something that’s basic to start off with, do your research on the place you’re getting it done and read reviews. There are so many places that offer facials now, but people are a little bit shy when they first have a facial, as they don’t know what to expect, but once you’ve had one you’ll be amazed at their results.

After your first facial you will see results straight away - your skin will be much brighter, clearer, softer and decongested and gives you an overall sense of wellness and relaxation. Just go for it!
