Would You Try These Scary Beauty Treatments?

Trick or treat, ladies! With Halloween fast approaching, we have been inspired to take a look at the lengths some women go to in the name of beauty. Sure, we all want to look fantastic, but would you try these scary beauty treatments?
The first beauty treatment we are somewhat spooked out by is the fish pedicure. Yep, you heard us right - place your feet in a tank and let real life fish fill themselves up on your dry, old, hard skin. Nutritious. Granted, these teeny-weeny fish are no piranhas, but there is something that just does not feel right about letting them munch away at our poor feet. While that in itself freaks us out enough, health experts have also suggested that fish pedicures can spread deadly diseases, such as HIV and Hepatitis C, and it’s easy to see why. The little fish nibble away at customer after customer, day in, day out, transmitting all sorts of nasty bacteria. If one customer is a carrier of a contagious disease, then, this beauty treatment can easily pass it on to others. Admittedly, the risk is low, but it’s not one we want to take. We would much rather keep our feet smooth and nourished with the use of a lovely foot scrub - wouldn’t you? OPI Feet Callas Therapy is one of our favourites!
Next on our list of spine-chilling beauty treatments is the vampire facelift. Not one for the squeamish, this is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure in which the surgeon extracts blood, mixes it with other products, and injects it back into the face. Despite sounding simply horrifying, a whole range of celebs, including Kim Kardashian and Anna Friel, have turned to vampire facelifts in an effort to keep their skin firm and youthful, and we can see why. Research suggests that three-quarters of patients who undergo this controversial beauty treatment look at least five years younger than before, and there is no danger of your body rejecting the formula as it is your own blood. Still, just thinking about it is leaving us feeling faint, so we will be sticking to our trusty moisturisers to keep those pesky wrinkles at bay for now.
Last of all, there is no way we could compile a list of scary beauty treatments without including sunbeds. Unlike the others, the use of sunbeds is no current beauty craze that will soon lose its novelty, but a firmly established, highly popular method to achieve a lovely, golden glow - and that's what scares us. More powerful than the sun, the UVA rays in sunbeds are so highly concentrated that they penetrate the skin to damage and break thousands of skin cells. As a result, the National Cancer Institute have found that women who use sunbeds are 55% more likely to develop malignant melanoma, along with a whole list of other skin cancers, than those who don’t. Don’t risk this dangerous beauty treatment, ladies - self tanning products such as St Tropez Bronzing Lotion will help you achieve the same golden glow, without compromising your health.
So, have you tried any of the beauty treatments on our list? Would you dare? We’re all for getting into the Halloween spirit, but some of these crazy procedures rank a little too high on the scariness scale for us, at least for this year.
