We are all aware of the fact that we should apply a sunscreen everyday as the evidence for UV damage is irrefutable, but on the days where we misjudge the intensity of rays or accidentally fall asleep in the sun what can we do help heal our skin?
The good news is that you CAN reverse the damage, research has produced an array of innovative ingredients and incorporating these into an at home rejuvenating facial is a must!
Start by thoroughly cleansing your skin with a cream based cleanser. Massage the product well into your skin to remove makeup and pollution build up. Rinse off with a gentle lukewarm face wash and dry gently with a soft towel.
Apply a super active brightening serum which is focused on correcting the damaged melanocyte cells responsible for the pigment in our skin. This will lighten existing pigmentation as well as prevent new pigment from forming. Apply with a cotton pad all over your face including the neck with either a gentle upward movement or light patting to the skin, depending on your preference.
It is important to exfoliate pigmented dead skin and stimulate new cellular turn over. Moisten your face with lukewarm water and apply a small amount of scrub with your fingertips, gently massage onto the skin in a circular motion for one minute. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Apply a creamy mask or peel over the face and neck and allow it to provide immediate time released deep hydration for dehydrated skin. Apply an even layer over the face, neck and décolleté with your fingertips. Leave for 3 - 5 minutes and remove with a cold compress, ensuring no product is left on the skin. Your skin will now be feeling refreshed and renewed!
Your skin deserves a big drink! Massage a deeply moisturising cream into your face, neck and décolleté. If you are going to bed, you may apply a Retinol or serum under your moisturiser.
