There’s an ongoing debate between experts and amateurs about the use of makeup primers which are designed to enhance the effects and longevity to makeup products. While some of the effects to foundations can be spectacular, many women are reluctant to mascara give primers a go.
What is a Mascara Primer?
If the eyes are the window to one’s soul, then eyelashes are one of the first things that get our attention, meaning the better mascaras get, the higher our expectations become. Adding a mascara primer to your makeup routine can be overwhelming if you are in a typical hurry in the morning. The primer is a mascara base that looks like a white liquid product which you apply before mascara. It has a similar brush to its colored equivalent and involves the same technique.
With a primer on, your lashes gain a protective layer that shields them from the chemicals in the mascara. Primers give lashes extra length and volume, which maximises the effects of the end product. Some primers contain keratin and other beneficial ingredients that promote the natural growth of your lashes.
Do I Need to Use One?
Applying a lash primer isn’t mandatory, you may be satisfied with your current mascara, lash extensions, or even false lashes. Try testing out the effects of by applying a primer followed by mascara to one eye and then applying just mascara to the other eye. You shouldn’t pair your primer with an eyelash curler either as it can dry and damage your lashes after applying the mascara.
